Marijuana can destroy cancer cells!

It seems that the US government will begin to officially recognize the well-being of marijuana for various forms of treatment based on the official report of the US National Institute on Drug Use which rejects classification of marijuana in a group of drugs LSD, heroin and ecstasy, writes the British newspaper The Independent.

Recent animal studies show that marijuana can destroy individual cancer cells and reduce the growth of other forms of cancer. Evidence from a study show that the whole plants extract may reduce one of the most serious forms of cancer, such as brain tumors. Studies in mice have shown that the extracts has a higher efficiency when used in combination with radiation - states the report.

While 23 US state allows the use of marijuana for medical and some of them for recreational purposes, the US government continues to prohibit its use.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes is legalized in Slovenia, while Serbia will do so on July 1. It is expected at the earliest in September in Croatia while the first preparations cannabinoids registered in the European Union on the Croatian market could find its way by the end of the year, if manufacturers or pharmaceutical companies that represent them apply for registration to the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED).

Commission of the Ministry of Health for analysis and recommendation application cannabis / CANNABINOIDS for medical purposes was unanimously recommended in mid-January change legislation to allow the application of medical marijuana in Croatia. It is proposed in the amendment of the Anti-Drug Abuse and relocation of cannabis in the first group of drugs to the Convention of 1971, which would enable the issue of medical marijuana prescription.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes is now permitted in the 13 EU countries.

Previous studies

Researchers from the University of Virginia have, in 1974 ,found that THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, slows the growth of tumor cells in mice in three types of cancer - lung cancer, breast cancer and virus-induced from leukemia.

1976 US President Gerald Ford banned all public research on marijuana and approved exclusive rights to research only pharmaceutical companies that have attempted to develop a synthetic form of THC. Then in 1983 the Reagan / Bush administration tried to persuade American universities and researchers to destroy all research related to marijuana from the period from 1966 to 1976.

A 2000 study conducted in Madrid showed that the researchers were able to destroy the incurable brain tumor in mice by having them injected THC. Seven years later, a Harvard study showed that THC in marijuana cuts tumor down the growth in lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the risk of the spread of cancer.

And so far there have been numerous scientific studies that are proving the effectiveness of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, but they were very little said and written for profit, which after all, pharmaceutical company's first priority.
