Thyme (Thymus serpyllum)

This plant is often labeled as a permanent semi-shrub, with a height of about 30 cm with an upright or creeping stems, which is round or square, and to the habitat on which to grow, unequal surmounted hair. Its leaves are of unequal shapes and sizes of 5-15 mm, lineal to rounded, oval, lance-shaped, the edge entire, rough, almost leathery. Bright red to dark-purple little flowers develop at the tips of branches, and the whole assembly is rounded. The plant is rich in forms and is distributed in over 20 subspecies and forms.
The flowers of this plant have strong and pleasant smell, but the taste is somewhat bitter. Thyme’s medicinal ingredients can be found in the leaves and flowers. Thyme likes dry, sunny places with hedges, pastures, rocky slopes and rocks, near roads. The daily use of thyme tea is recommended as protection during epidemics, because it has the capacity to stop the development and even destroy some of many pathogenic germs.
